Before we start today’s blog, let’s agree on something.
Almost everything that exists in this world is available on google. From people to places to businesses, everything you know, you can find on google.
And it goes without saying, that if someone wants to get more eyes on their business, they should be ranking better on GMB.
But here’s the shocking part;
More than 99% of businesses never rank themselves in Google My Business. The reason is they are not fully aware of the current market, and unknowingly use the strategies that have no chance of working in 2025.
Hence, they are considered fake, and their Google business accounts get banned.
But I am here to prevent you and your business from that, and if you stay till the end, you will know the exact ways on how to be in those 1% businesses who are doing very well in local SEO.
So I have divided my list of SEO in 5 different categories on what you should and shouldn't do, and which things you might be doing that can flag you as scams.
Now consider these 5 things as non-negotiable tasks, i.e., you have to accomplish them. No ifs or buts.
Your first task should be to complete your business profile by 100% in Google.
And I don’t mean with just the basic information like name and address, you have to fill proper information like which location do you work at, your phone number, photos, videos, i.e, just go to the information tab and whatever details you are asked, you have to fill out.
I am not just saying this just for process sake, infact there’s a very big reason behind this.
Until Google does not understand what you do overall in your business, your opening, closing hours, your holiday timings, then it’s impossible to rank your business properly.
And this can make things very difficult.
Just a small thing like this can reduce your ranking a lot, bringing your reputation as a business, lower, and then in turn bringing the sales lower.

Now let's talk about our second non-negotiable.
I assume that you have taken multiple reviews for your business.
But if you apply this small trick to it, then your chances of ranking increase exponentially.
And that is to embed some relevant keywords in your reviews.
I will give you a personal example.
Suppose someone took marketing services from my company, Wincible.
Then I can ask him if I can put a review on Google by taking the name of my service with something like Marketing Agency in Bhopal.
Now whenever someone searches “marketing agency in bhopal”, there’s a high chance that my agency shows up.
But you do not have to do this part in all the reviews.
You can ask people to mention some specific keywords in their reviews and what will happen is that Google will get a signal that this business is very relevant for a specific keyword and it can rank you higher for that.
Now, as I said, non-negotiable, just remember, you MUST have this included in your Business.
We call it NAP,
Which is an abbreviation of name, address, and phone number.
Now, for example, if I give different names, addresses, and phone numbers for Google Business, different from my Facebook page and my Instagram,
This would significantly decrease your trust factor in front of Google.
Hence, just make sure that wherever your business is available, you have kept your NAP the same.
Now, let me tell you a real-life example.
We had a client whose business was going very well on Google Map, that is, their rankings were good.
But when they shifted their office, they changed their address on Facebook, Instagram but did not change it in Google Map business and their rankings went down a little.
So, we analyzed a little and found out this difference, fixed it, and in just a matter of days,
Their rankings came back up.
Therefore, always keep in mind to keep the NAP consistent on every platform your business is on.
Now let us talk about our next category, which is High Impact.
High impact means that if you make a certain shift in your business, you see rapid results.
And while I would explain this further, some of the "high impact" techniques I have explained in one of my previous YouTube videos;
First of all, you need to understand the difference between various things because what most businesses are doing these days is just entering keywords along with the name of their business in Google My Business and expecting their business to boom.
For example, if my agency name is Wincible, then I have written the name of my business as “Wincible Best Digital Marketing Agency”,
So it gives Google an illusion that I have done keyword stuffing and there are due to that there are high chances of my business account getting banned.
Now, what is the best alternative option for this?
Just make sure that your Google My Business is always connected to your website, by making these changes on the landing page of your website.
For example, if I have a marketing agency, then I can write on my header as “Wincible Best Digital Marketing Agency in bhopal”.
This makes sure that you are not directly stuffing keywords in your Business Manager instead you are subtly telling Google on your landing page that for which keyword I am relevant.
The high-impact procedure I am about to share with you is frankly done by very few people, but if you start doing it, I am convinced that you will start seeing a subtle increase in your ranking.
All you have to do is just start updating your Google My Business weekly, because Google rewards these kinds of techniques.
In your Google My Business account,
Go to the post section and regularly keep putting some new photos, videos, offers there, so that Google feels that your account is very active.
The more you keep your GMB active, the more rankings you will get, and along with that, customers will also increase.
Also, remember, you have to make sure that at regular intervals, your business is getting reviews.
Don’t have a review of 6 months prior, and after that, expect google to rank your business with that age old review.
Make sure that, just like your account, your reviews are also active.
The more continuous reviews and consistent reviews you take, the more Google will push your GMB profile.
Do one more thing in a high-impact thing. The location that you are using in your Google Map business, integrate it in your website as well. Add the schema of maps and local business as well.
You will get an extra edge there as well.
Now we talk about our next category, “Nice to Have’s”.
These are not "non-negotiables", but if you add them, you are certain to have an edge over your competitors.
The first is Geo-tagging of images.
And yes, you read it correctly, geo-tagging is literally like asset tagging, where the asset is your business.
That means whatever photos and videos you are uploading, you should specifically add the photos in it. You should do Geo-tagging so that you get an extra edge from it.
You will find many free tools in the market that they provide you, so you will be able to do it very easily.
Along with this, you have to make sure that if you have Instagram, Facebook, social media accounts, then you should keep them linked to your Google Map business because this will increase your trustworthiness very quickly.
Now lastly we will talk about the scams of SEO which you might still be doing but you shouldn't do it at all, because it drastically increases the chance of getting your Google My Business account banned.
SEO isn't what it used to be in 2020.
It has evolved.
And to make sure you don't get lost practicing the old SEO tricks, here are some things to keep in mind.
⇨ First of all, many people in the market are taking paid reviews for their Google My Business, which means you will get 1000 reviews for ₹ 1000.
But you should never do this because Google identifies it very easily, and in the case of fake reviews, your business will not be ranked, and your account will also be penalized.
⇨ The second biggest thing that people are still doing is fake local listings, which means they are making fake listings of their business at the wrong locations.
Again, if Google catches it, you would be penalized and banned.
Your Google ranking will never increase due to this.
⇨ Thirdly, if you are still buying paid backlinks and using those backlinks on your website, then there is also a chance that your account can be banned.
Make sure of one thing in 2025, SEO doesn't just work with tricks.
You will have to use smart strategies, and if you implement the ones that I have told you so far, you are bound to get good results.
Just being consistent and honest on GMB will get you much ahead of your competition and you will be achieving things in months which they take years to accomplish.
