So recently, in order to provide more context as to how ad systems are evolving, Meta has provided a new overview of the AI back-end that’s powering its ad targeting process.
If you didn’t knew,
Before meta provided us with two options for ads;
Manual campaign and AI campaigns.
But, with this new update, it is clear that meta is more inclined towards making the ad targeting process fully automated.
For that, meta is merging “advantage + shopping campaigns” and “manual sales campaigns” into a single “advantage + sales campaign.”
And hence the traditional structure of Campaign > Ad Set > Ad will return with an enhanced automation.
Meta also has added a new feature named “Campaign score” that will show you how much your setup aligns with Meta’s recommendations.
The range would be from 0-100, where high scores depict higher chances of better performance.
The options with audience targeting has also changed,
Now you can give input audience criteria(age, interests, custom audience) as suggestions , rather than hard limits,
Hence giving Meta’s AI more flexibility.
➡️ Although you still can do manual campaigning, but meta discourages it,
And claims that it can increase cost by 33%.
Btw, if you further want to decrease the ad costs,
Some more changes are;
Meta has shared that its ad system uses 3 separate AI powered functions, that deliver ads to the most receptive audience across all its platforms.
These systems are trained on meta’s ad database, including user response, So they’re highly customized according to what the user wants to see.
The first one is,
➡️ Meta GEM
The main objective of GEM is to analyze how the user responds to various ads across Meta’s systems, And to determine correlating factors that drive this response and activity.
Meta’s ad system learns from vast amount of data, And with GEM, it is able to recognize subtle patterns,
And provide the most relevant ads to the right audience at the right time with low latency. The second system is,
➡️ Meta Lattice
This system also analyzes the vast data present on meta ads,
And how different ad types and promotions are shown to each other.
This helps Lattice to ensure broader exposure and opportunity across Meta’s ad inventory.
➡️ Meta Andromeda
The 3rd and final system is named Andromeda. It’s job is to learn each user’s personal preferences, And ensures that you are shown more relevant and interesting promotions.
These 3 AI powered systems, alongwith improved ad sequencing, ensures that the audience views the most apt ads across Meta.
The traditional aggregated data models used to show more ads to user’s that purchased a product.
For example, if a user bought a smartphone, he would be shown other smartphone ads.
But the recent changes have made the ad learning model so advanced, that if you purchase a smartphone,
You would automatically be shown ads for earphones, phone covers, which are necessary to your purchase.
These changes have improved ad engagement and response,
Hence showing more promotions on the user's feed,
Which proves that Meta’s automated options like Advantage+ are much better at driving results.
