Just over the past year, over 6 trillion dollars were spent on online websites
which again goes to show,
“E-commerce is seeing unprecedented growth.”
This is a direct indication that right now is the perfect time to start your online store because there’s still a lot of chance to grow in this niche.
But if you want to take advantage of this golden opportunity, you’re going to need to create a money-attracting website,
And in this blog, I will tell you the 8 best platforms to launch an e-commerce store.
It is one of the most popular e-commerce platforms for sellers, and that's because it's built solely for supporting e-commerce.
They also offer 24/7 support, and one of the big benefits of Shopify is that you can choose from a ton of different free or paid themes that are going to make your site look beautiful.
It’s also one of the easiest e-commerce platforms to set up, as you can create an online store in just 4 minutes.
Another benefit of Shopify is that they have a ton of apps, plugins, and integrations.
So whatever you want your website to do, there’s already an app built for it.
The biggest con is that it can be expensive for users, starting at $29 a month for the most basic plan.
And if you want to use the app plugins and integrations, you have to pay an extra fee for that.
Another disadvantage is that there’s limited customization for the product page and checkout page.
And even though you are provided with 24/7 support, the quality of support has gone downhill with Shopify.
Squarespace helps you build a good option for making beautiful websites.
There is a huge selection of designer-made templates that look beautiful,
They also offer 24/7 customer support to ensure that your journey becomes a lot easier with 0 confusion.
The biggest disadvantage is that it is not built with e-commerce as a primary focus; in fact, it started as a place to build websites, and later, they went on to add e-commerce functionality.
Hence, there are a bunch of things you can do with your website because of a lack of features, like plugins and apps.
Now, even though on the positive side, Squarespace is much more affordable than Shopify,
But I won't recommend this platform unless you’re an artist or a creator, and you’re trying to make a creativity-based website.
They have a large app marketplace, and it’s a reliable platform with good security, which can be good to start and set up your website.
But, still, I don’t recommend it for various reasons:
- Wix is primarily a website builder; later on, they added e-commerce functionalities.
- It has a limited number of features.
It does have an affordable option for domain names, but in my opinion, it’s not as worth it as it doesn’t have as many features and functionalities needed for optimal performance.
Big Cartel allows you to put up to 5 products on your online store for free; it’s simple to make small stores, and it is specifically designed for artists and creatively minded people.
But it also comes with some disadvantages:
- Just like Wix, it also comes with very few features and integrations.
- It would be highly difficult for you to move from Big Cartel to a more professional website once your business grows.
Big Cartel offers limited templates, and they don’t have 24/7 chat or phone support.
But if you are an artist or creative type and you’re just looking to sell some paintings,
And are not interested in expanding your e-commerce business,
This might look like a good solution.
If you are a medium to large-sized business, Magento is another platform that used to be popular 3-5 years ago, which has been rebranded to Adobe Commerce.Pros:
WooCommerce is a very popular platform for building e-commerce websites.
I would even go far enough to say that it is one of the most popular platforms right now, the reason is that it comes with a lot of advantages.
It was launched in 2021, with its former name being 3dcard, and is yet another famous e-commerce platform, with a lot of benefits, which makes it a strong, feature-rich online store.
Benefits:
As I can say in the beginning, you can't really go wrong with Shopify, unless you have a large budget or if you want a good blogging platform with superior SEO.
If you aren't tech-savvy enough, you can go with Bigcommerce, or you can choose different platforms according to your needs from the list.
But if you want the most optimal performance, with the most optimal features and results, you can go with Shopify.
