How to Improve Your ROAS Enough to Make Your Competitors Jealous!

Most of the businesses I deal with every day come up with the same problem, that their ROAS is very low, and the pattern too is surprisingly the same with most of them.

It goes like this: they watch a few videos about running Meta ads, and then they go on to set an ad campaign by themselves, pouring money into everything, or hiring an agency with low to no experience to deal with it.

In the beginning, they get good ROAS, but then cracks start to appear; it does not scale up or increase, and in some cases, it might even go down.

Now you might be wondering, “how do you help them?” and that's why I am writing this down so that not only our clients but also you can improve your ROAS by taking care of these few things. Let's dive straight into it.

YOU IRRITATE YOUR AUDIENCE

Ad frequency is something that really affects your sales, but due to a lack of knowledge, or sometimes too much of it, most of us tend to bombard our audience with ads.

Think of it from an audience perspective, if you see the same ad again and again, you will surely get irritated and might skip the product entirely. It happens a lot, and then your ROAS just dips.

So make sure you keep your ad frequency below 3 for the cold audience, and don't run the same ad repeatedly. Also, try targeting a new or broader audience to keep things fresh and effective.

YOUR LANDING PAGE MIGHT BE BROKEN

Yup, it's that simple, your landing page, which opens when somebody clicks on your link, might be so broken or badly optimized, that your customers just leave or find it too shady to put any information.

That defeats the whole purpose of running ads; you pay for them to come to your website, and they don't even buy anything! And then you wonder why your ROAS is so low.

In order to avoid a high bounce rate, optimize your landing page, make it good. That means a smoother user experience, no complicated options,

and making it attractive enough that everybody likes it, and simple enough that everybody understands.

YOU ARE OVERLAPPING YOUR AUDIENCE

This is what usually happens when you make an ad campaign without any prior experience or guidance, and just by watching a few YouTube videos.

When we create multiple ad sets without proper research or setting up different audiences, Meta makes them compete in the same auction, and this ends up driving up your own CPM

because you are basically bidding against yourself. This not only burns money but cuts down your ROAS.

YOU SHOW ADS AT THE WRONG PLACE OR TO THE WRONG PEOPLE

Anything at the wrong time or in the wrong place is problematic, be it in your life or Meta ads. Wrong Ad placement not only decreases your ROAS but also wastes your money, and it's a very common problem.

Most people run ads on stories or audience networks when the ad is not even meant for those spots.

They also continue running ads that are not performing well. Wrong targeting is another huge problem. People set up ad sets targeting the completely wrong audience and then wonder why they didn't get conversions. How are you supposed to get customers when you are targeting people who don't even need it? Targeting out of context is one of the biggest reasons for low ROAS.

That's why I always suggest reviewing ad campaigns frequently to identify these issues and correct them.

YOU SCALE ADS WITHOUT EXPERIENCE

One of the most often made mistakes, and I am not exaggerating how often I have seen this happen, is scaling an ad campaign too fast or too slow.

In Meta ads, time and strategy are everything. When you get excited after seeing good results and pump money into one ad set, thinking it will bring even more clicks, you just end up confusing the algorithm.

This ruins the whole ad set, leading to poor delivery, low conversions, and bad ROAS.

Another thing is that when we reuse a winning ad set, we don't change anything in it. Wrong! That's why your audience might be overlapping, resulting in lower sales.

While I could dive deeper here, I’ve already covered in one of my previous YouTube videos.

SHOULD YOU GO FOR ADVANTAGE+?

See, I am not against AI; in fact, I use it more often in my life than I would like to admit, but there are some things that still need that human brain, and that includes running Meta ads.

Advantage+ is for those who have already run a lot of meta ads and whose meta algorithm is trained enough. Hence, in the beginning, I always suggest users run as many manual campaigns as they can, so that their Meta account is well-fed and understands their ins and outs.

So now that you know these things, I hope your ROAS will improve and be better than before. Until then, keep learning and growing.

I hope this helped!

Until then, Happy Digital Learning 😍
