Instagram has increased its user base to billions in the past few years, and even Facebook has an audience of billions.
You might have also asked yourself what should I choose for my business Facebook or Instagram ads?
Let me give you a hint: Both are exactly the same, just the platform is different and they are owned by Meta.
So, whether you decide to run Instagram ads or Facebook ads you need to follow the same process.
You might have heard of Facebook ads manager, right? If you ever used it, you might have seen an option of placements where you have the opportunity to select whether you want to run ads on Facebook itself or Instagram solely.
So, before we head to which platform you should use for your business, just make sure you know that you have to just change the placement settings in your ad manager to select the platform you need to run ads in.
Well, you need to know that if we exclude the ads manager, you can even run ads on Instagram through the platform itself, which we call “Boost Post” or “Instagram Boost”.
The interface of the platform is very basic, if you want to boost a post through Instagram itself, you just need to select the country, and budget, and do some basic targeting and Voila! your ad is active!
BUT, NEVER USE IT!! Here’s Why:
Ps- This has definitely cleared up that there’s only one way to run ads on Instagram and Facebook, which is through Facebook ads manager.
I have launched an E-Book on Facebook ads where I have talked about this in more detail, you can check it out below:
It’s pretty clear by the years these platforms were launched. Facebook was launched in 2004 whereas Instagram was launched in 2010.
Both the platforms might have similar features but the audience segment is very very different, let me explain:
Suppose I want to sell Anime Oversized T-shirts online, I would prefer running ads on Instagram rather than Facebook because my target audience will be approximately 18 to 28, and Instagram is mostly used by the younger generation, so it would be a perfect fit.
Now, if I want to sell some kind of kitchen appliance online, I might prefer running ads on Facebook majorly, because the user base there is mostly above 26, so that would be a perfect fit.
Now, if I want to sell women's ethnic wear, I will prefer running ads on both platforms, because the product is something everyone is going to buy.
So, that’s the difference, understand where your target audience lies more and then select a platform to run your ads.
See, both platforms work in a different manner, and so does the content as well. This means whatever industry you are in, you need to understand the content you are producing for your audience.
Let’s consider the same example: I just launched an anime t-shirt brand, the vibe would be funky and cool, and I would be producing content with a similar vibe. This means, I will be running ads I’m majorly on Instagram, as my content will be appreciated on Instagram more.
Again, if I want to sell a car cover, my content would be somewhat UGC or how-to guide, and majorly people above 24 years would be willing to buy my product, so Facebook would work much better here.
It all adds up to two major things: Your business nature and your target audience.
I could have blabbed about multiple pointers here, but ultimately these two are the major things you need to focus on when you have to decide whether to run Instagram or Facebook Ads.
Just ask yourself these questions:
This way you will be easily able to decide what should be your platform choice.
Its been said that running ads on Facebook is comparatively cheaper than running on Instagram, but personally its like bread and butter, you will not be able to see a very big difference.
You can easily start running ads with the same budget on both platforms, and the results might be similar.
Genz audiences spend more, whereas mature audiences think before spending.I hope this cleared all your doubts, if you have any more questions you can check my mail below and pop those questions to me, I will definitely answer all of them.
